Mutah University and Libyan Higher Education Institutions Discuss Academic Cooperation
President of Mutah University, Dr. Salama Al-Naimat, recently welcomed Dr. Ahmed Al-Banuni, Libyan Cultural Attaché, to discuss ways of strengthening academic and cultural ties between Mutah University and various Libyan higher education institutions.
Dr. Al-Naimat emphasized the importance of deepening close relations between the Jordanian and Libyan people, which can positively impact cooperation between institutions in various fields, including academia, economics, and culture. He stressed that Mutah University is open to academic and research cooperation with Libyan universities, leading to potential memorandums of understanding, joint international conferences, scientific visits, and student exchange programs.
Mutah University’s Academic and Scientific Approach
Dr. Al-Naimat highlighted Mutah University’s recent establishment of the College of Dentistry, which will accept students in addition to the College of Medicine. The College of Medicine has graduated hundreds of doctors and holds an excellent academic reputation locally and abroad, with American accreditation. The university is ready to cooperate with Libyan students who wish to pursue postgraduate studies in various specializations.
Mutah University has also updated its academic programs and study plans to meet labor market requirements, providing job opportunities for graduates in various fields. The university focuses on scientific research, motivating faculty members and students to publish in reputable scientific journals and linking research with societal needs.
Libyan Delegation’s Praise and Future Collaboration
Dr. Al-Banuni praised the distinguished level and reputation of Jordanian universities, expressing delight at Mutah University’s achievements. He expressed a desire to activate academic collaboration with Mutah University, particularly in medical sciences and undergraduate medicine programs, and to establish twin programs in areas of mutual interest.
Regarding technical education, the Libyan Ministry of Technical Education seeks cooperation with the Jordanian side, where Mutah University is located, to benefit from qualified instructors in this field at the graduate and diploma levels.
Dean of the College of Medicine, Dr. Fadi Sawaked, and the director of the university’s liaison office, Fares Al-Mufleh, were present at the meeting.
