KUALA ‍LUMPUR, July ⁣28 – Two brothers, V Kirtik Ram,⁤ 19, and V ⁤Theshvinram, 18, stood trial at the Shah Alam Magistrates’ Court today, facing serious charges related to a ⁢kidnapping and assault ⁢incident that occurred in Bukit Puchong last week. The case, which gained critically important traction after a video of the event went viral on social media, has drawn public attention to the alleged actions ⁢of ‍the two siblings.

The Allegations Unveiled

The charges brought against the brothers detail⁤ a disturbing ⁣event that allegedly took place ‍on July 22 at approximately 6:38 PM on Jalan ‌Persiaran Permai, Bukit Puchong. prosecutors contend that V Kirtik Ram, employed as a lorry attendant, and V theshvinram, a⁢ delivery rider, jointly abducted a ⁢21-year-old man. The core⁤ of the prosecution’s argument is that the brothers⁣ intended to unlawfully and secretly confine the victim, a serious ‍offence‌ under Malaysian law.

Legal Ramifications: Kidnapping ⁤Charge

The primary⁤ charge of kidnapping is being prosecuted under Section ‍365 of the‌ Penal ⁤Code. This section addresses the offense of kidnapping ‌or abducting with ⁣the‌ intention to secretly⁣ and wrongfully confine a ⁤person.Conviction under this statute carries a significant penalty, with a maximum prison term of seven years and the possibility⁢ of a ⁢fine. ⁤the court heard that the brothers pleaded not guilty to this⁤ charge.

Secondary Charge: Voluntarily ⁣Causing⁢ hurt

Along ⁢with the⁣ kidnapping charge, the brothers also face a second accusation of ‌voluntarily ⁢causing hurt to the ⁣same ‍victim. This offense falls under Section‌ 323 of the Penal Code, which deals with the act of voluntarily causing hurt to any person. The penalties‍ for this ⁣charge are less severe than kidnapping, with a maximum sentence⁢ of one year’s⁤ imprisonment, a fine of up to RM2,000, or a combination of both. The brothers also entered a plea of not guilty to this charge.

Bail and ‍Next Steps

Following the arraignment, the court granted bail ‌to both V ⁢Kirtik Ram and V‌ Theshvinram. Each brother was granted bail amounting to RM5,000 for the kidnapping⁢ charge and‌ RM2,000 for the ‍charge of⁣ causing hurt. The court has scheduled a mention date for September 8,at which time‍ further proceedings in the case will‍ be determined.

The Viral Video: A Catalyst for⁣ Inquiry

The incident gained widespread public attention on July 23 when a 15-second video ⁢clip began circulating on social media platforms. The footage captured several individuals forcing a man into the back of a box van in broad daylight. ⁤The graphic nature of the⁢ video prompted swift ⁣action from law enforcement, who‍ subsequently launched a hunt for the ⁤suspects involved. The viral dissemination of the ⁢video⁢ played a crucial role in bringing the⁢ alleged perpetrators to justice and initiating ⁢the current legal ⁣proceedings. The‍ ongoing trial‌ aims⁤ to shed further light ⁤on the ⁢circumstances surrounding this alarming event.
