A brush fire in Burbank triggered evacuations Tuesday afternoon as flames spread near residential areas. The Bethany fire,as it was named,started close to Bethany Road and Amherst Drive,the Burbank Fire Department reported.
By 4:30 p.m.,the brush fire had grown to approximately 10 acres,prompting mandatory evacuations for homes situated above Bel Aire Drive and west of Walnut Avenue,including the DeBell Golf Club. However, by 6 p.m., fire crews managed to stop the fire’s forward movement, allowing officials to rescind all evacuation orders.
“Fire hose has been placed around the fire to keep it contained,” Burbank fire officials said.
firefighters remained on scene throughout the night,monitoring for any potential flare-ups and continuing cleanup efforts. The cause of the Bethany fire remains under examination.
