Buried Alive: Chiang Rai Flood Uncovers Shocking Discovery – A House, a Mudslide, and a Grisly Secret
Chiang Rai Floods: Mud-Covered Houses and Devastation
A devastating scene unfolded in Chiang Rai, Thailand, after floods subsided, revealing mud-covered houses and a shocking discovery of a dead body under the mud.
A TikTok user, @ernarit, shared a video of the aftermath, showing the mud almost covering the roof of a house in the community area of Tham Pha Chom Temple, Village No. 1, Mae Sai District, Chiang Rai Province.
Mr. Asawin Romeprasert, Prime Minister of the Disaster Response Association (DRA), spoke to “Khaosod Online” about the situation. He explained that the DRA had been assisting with the floods in Chiang Rai province since September 10. The community area of Tham Pha Chom temple was the hardest hit, with the first floor of houses completely submerged in mud.
Mr. Asawin described the mud as semi-sandy, which blew in from the Burmese side and flowed with the water, creating a high mountain of mud that buried everything under it.
In some areas, the mud was so deep that it was impossible to walk without sinking. The DRA had to dig into the ground to recover dead bodies, broken electrical appliances, and other items buried under the mud.

Mr. Asawin emphasized the need for the government to provide aid and assistance to the affected areas, including mental health support for those who have suffered losses.

The Disaster Response Association plans to deploy cargo drones equipped with radar cameras to create a digital twin of the city, run simulations, and assess future risks to minimize losses.

The use of technology is crucial in restoring and developing nature, especially in the face of more frequent and severe natural disasters.
