Burlington Police Body Camera Video and Findings on March 11 Immigration Incident Expected in Weeks or Months - News Directory 3

Burlington Police officials say it could take weeks or months before they release body camera video and findings related to their role in the March 11 Immigration and Customs Enforcement operation in South Burlington.

The police department completed its supervisor review of the incident on Friday, April 18, 2026, and the police chief is now reviewing that report, according to statements made to WCAX on April 21, 2026.

Mayor Emma Mulvaney-Stanak is conducting her own independent review, which includes examining body camera video, following a policy implemented by former Mayor Miro Weinberger.

It is expected that the police chief will present the findings from both the department and mayoral reviews to the Burlington Police Commission sometime this month or in May, after which the information will be made public.

Related reporting indicates that state and South Burlington police have already released dozens of hours of body camera video and other recordings from the March 11 operation as part of their after-action reviews.

Those agencies concluded that their officers did not use excessive force and did not violate fair policing laws during the incident, which resulted in street clashes between activists and federal immigration agents.

South Burlington City Manager Jessie Baker stated in a summary memo that there were no incidents where local police used excessive force, based on reviewed camera footage, and that the department had received no formal complaints related to the operation.

Vermont State Police reported three complaints that were detailed enough to review, while Burlington Police recorded 121 complaints, most of which involved the conduct of a single officer and were submitted anonymously.

No city employees have been placed on leave or restricted duty as a result of the incident or subsequent reviews, according to official statements.
