Busted: Police Seize Shipments of Marijuana Infused with Fruity Twists in Timbío
414 Kilos of Fruit-Flavored Marijuana Seized in Cauca, Colombia
A joint operation by the National Police and the Department of Criminal Investigations (SIJÍN) has resulted in the seizure of 414 kilos of fruit-flavored marijuana in Cauca, Colombia.
The operation, which was carried out in collaboration with the Special Operations Group (GOES) and the Police Response from the municipality of Timbío, resulted in the arrest of a 42-year-old man, a native of the municipality of Bolívar, Cauca. The suspect was transporting the marijuana in a truck-type vehicle, which was intercepted on the Pan-American Highway.
During the inspection of the vehicle, authorities found 414 kilograms of marijuana, including several packages of the export-type narcotic with fruity aromas and flavors. The increasing demand for this type of marijuana in the international market has surprised authorities.
According to investigations, the value of each pound package of the seized marijuana can vary between 3 and 5 million Colombian pesos, representing a significant impact on drug trafficking finances.
The arrested person was made available to the Attorney General’s Office, along with the seized marijuana, to begin the corresponding judicial process.
