BYD‘s Yangwang U9 Xtreme Shatters Speed Records,Redefining Electric Hypercar Performance

PAPENBURG,GERMANY – october 26,2025 – The automotive world is abuzz following the unveiling of BYD’s Yangwang U9 Xtreme,a track-focused electric hypercar that has obliterated existing speed records. The U9 Xtreme, formerly known as the Yangwang U9 Track Edition, was revealed during a highly anticipated livestream event earlier this month.

In September 2025, at Germany’s Automotive Testing Papenburg, the U9 Xtreme achieved a verified top speed of 496.22 km/h (308.4 mph). This monumental achievement establishes the U9 Xtreme as the fastest production car ever recorded, surpassing the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+’s previous record of 490.5 km/h by a meaningful margin. the Aspark Owl, clocking in at 438.7 km/h, lags considerably behind.

But the U9 Xtreme’s dominance doesn’t end there. The hypercar also conquered the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife, achieving a lap time of 6:59.157. This remarkable feat eclipses the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra’s previous production EV record of 7:04.957, solidifying the U9 Xtreme’s position as a true performance benchmark. The Yangwang team shaved nearly 19 seconds off their previous Nürburgring lap time of 7 minutes and 17.9 seconds, set in November 2024.

“This is more than just a record,” says automotive analyst Sarah Chen.”It’s a statement. BYD is demonstrating that electric vehicles can not only compete with, but outright surpass, the performance of conventional combustion engine hypercars. The U9 Xtreme is a game-changer.”

The U9 Xtreme builds upon the foundation of the existing U9 model, enhanced with extended aerodynamic equipment designed for optimal track performance. While koenigsegg’s Jesko Absolut boasts remarkable simulation figures and set a 0-400-0 km/h record in August 2025,the U9 Xtreme’s verifiable,real-world achievements speak volumes.

Production of the U9 Xtreme will be limited to just 30 units for global markets, making it an exceptionally rare and coveted machine. Pricing details have not yet been released, but industry experts anticipate a premium price tag reflecting the car’s groundbreaking performance and exclusivity.

The Yangwang U9 Xtreme is not just a hypercar; it’s a symbol of innovation, pushing the boundaries of electric vehicle technology and redefining what’s possible on the track. It’s a testament to BYD’s commitment to excellence and a glimpse into the future of high-performance automotive engineering.
