The Truth About What Happened in Aswan
In recent days, rumors have been circulating about water pollution in Egypt, especially in Aswan Governorate. However, Aswan Governorate has denied these rumors, which were spread by bloggers on social media pages. The governorate insists that all these rumors are just rumors and all water analysis confirms that it is safe from any pollutants.
The Deputy Prime Minister of Human Development and the Egyptian Minister of Health and Population, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, has revealed that the ministry has a system to ensure the safety of every drink. The water point that reaches the citizen, and samples of Aswan’s water station packages show absolute water security.
The ministry has conducted analysis and tests on some parts of the water stations to find out the reasons for the spread of gastrointestinal diseases among the residents of Aswan. The results of the samples showed the protection of all samples by chemical tests, and this is done daily at the republican level to respond to rumors about the safety and security of the Nile.
The testing of diarrheal samples confirmed the presence of a coliform bacterial infection called “E. coli bacteria” that resides in any contaminated water or food. This confirms that the drinking water is not the cause of the gastrointestinal diseases in Aswan.
