Caleb Kennedy, a former “American Idol” finalist, has been sentenced to 8 years in prison. This follows his guilty plea to a felony DUI charge resulting in death. He was involved in a fatal crash in 2022.
Kennedy will spend 5 years in prison. After that, he will complete 3 years of home detention. He must also serve 5 years of probation. Additionally, he is required to attend mental health and substance abuse counseling and undergo random drug and alcohol tests.
The 20-year-old singer was arrested in 2022 after his pickup truck crashed into a building, killing a man inside. Photos showed significant damage to the structure, with the truck lodged within the garage.
Kennedy was previously removed from “American Idol” after a video surfaced showing him next to an individual in a Ku Klux Klan-like hood.
Kennedy’s lawyer has not yet responded to inquiries regarding the case.
