“Peak influencer dystopia,” internet personality Daadi said, describing a viral clip of California content creators blocking an active ambulance for an impromptu photo shoot on October 1, 2026, according to news.com.au.
The video features a man posing on a gurney while smoking a cigarette in the back of the emergency vehicle, alongside a woman taking his picture.
West Hollywood Photo Shoot Disrupts Medics
“Not everyone can be at Milan Fashion Week. Someone’s gotta influence in West Hollywood,” the caption on the video read. Nearby paramedics worked on a patient preparing them for transportation as the pair used the vehicle as a backdrop.
A member of the public approached the content creators before the patient was wheeled into frame. The medics worked to move around them before successfully loading the injured individual safely. A stranger shooed the pair before needing to physically move them aside to allow the medics access to the back of the vehicle, resulting in an argument between the creators and the man who intervened.
Social Media Users Demand Identity of Creators
The clip has continually been reshared across various social media platforms as outrage climbs.
“Is the entire world just becoming a stage for the most vapid people imaginable to perform for their phones?” Daadi questioned in a post. The creator also called them out for smoking in the emergency vehicle and for “having the audacity to argue with them when they ask you to move.”
The pair are currently being dragged online as users demand to know who they are. In Daadi’s own comment section, a user wrote that they are seriously starting to feel concerned for the human race, while another demanded to know genuinely what the goal was, and a third stated that they think we all died and went to hell. On Reddit, the video was reposted where the creators were labelled ghouls with cameras and zero self-awareness.
Internet detectives went too far with their commitment to name and shame, pulling US TikToker Emma Pritchard into the crossfire despite being completely innocent. Pritchard, who has 866,000 followers, was tagged in the comment section of the post before writing that this isn’t her and telling users to stop tagging her.
Smoking Near Oxygen Tanks Risks Fatal Explosions
Others pointed out the danger of smoking in such proximity to oxygen tanks on-board. Compressed oxygen cylinders are often transported inside ambulances and could lead to a fatal fire or explosion in the presence of an open flame.
Beyond the smoking restrictions, obstructing active emergency workers is a misdemeanour in the state of California and it can result in hefty fines and jail time.
Obstructing emergency personnel is classified as a misdemeanour under California law, carrying potential penalties of fines and imprisonment.
