J.C. hernandez, formerly a health care director at Stand Together, became the executive director and later co-founder of end Chronic Disease, the lobbying group associated with Truemed. hernandez previously lobbied for Americans for Prosperity, another Koch organization.
The launch of End Chronic Disease was announced with a coalition of 20 members, including Truemed’s founder and partner. The organization’s registered address is located in the same Arlington, Virginia, complex as Stand Together, Americans for Prosperity, and the Charles Koch Foundation. Many coalition members have invested in or partnered with Truemed, and the coalition has as grown to include figures like Mark Hyman and Jillian Michaels, who sell products on Truemed’s platform.
The End Chronic Disease website previously encouraged peopel to contact legislators in support of the HOPE Act (Health Out-of-Pocket expense Act), which advocates for broader HSA usage. A House Republican tax bill included provisions that could significantly expand HSA use. By the end of 2026,HSA accounts are projected to hold over $175 billion in assets.
Rep. Jake Auchincloss commented on the situation, stating, “They are out there using tax-preferential dollars for wealthy people to buy saunas, and they are going to turn our entire health care system into one big GNC store.”
