Phnom Penh — Former Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen has given Thailand until Tuesday to fully reopen all border checkpoints, threatening a ban on imports of Thai fruits and vegetables if the demand is not met. the ultimatum further escalates tensions between the neighboring countries.

Hun Sen, now the senate president, stated that Cambodia would remove its checkpoint restrictions if all crossings between the two nations resume normal operating hours, from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The threat follows a brief armed skirmish May 28 between soldiers from both countries at Chong Bok in the Nam Yuen district of Ubon Ratchathani province. The second Region Army maintains that Cambodian soldiers had encroached on thai territory.
