A vehicle overturned on the exclusive bus lane of the Metropolitano rapid transit system in Lima,Peru,disrupting service on Tuesday,October 17,2023.The incident occurred on the southbound lane near the Central Station in the Cercado de Lima district.
Accident Under Investigation
Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident. The vehicle, a van, ended up on its wheels in the dedicated bus lane, halting Metropolitano service.
According to records from the National Superintendency of Public Registries (Sunarp), the van is registered to the Congress of the Republic.
RPP reporters at the scene confirmed the driver exited the vehicle without assistance adn did not appear to be injured. The van remains overturned as of this report.
