Can You Really Trust the Headlines: Separating Health Fact from Fiction

Can You Really Trust the Headlines: Separating Health Fact from Fiction

September 26, 2024 Catherine Williams - Chief Editor Health

The working hours in the kitchen are irregular. Since it is often 12 pm when I get home, preparing a meal is a task. I had a non-late-night snack thinking I had to have something late at night and ended up with gastritis. It should not have happened like this. Special measures were needed. I wanted to eat at a set time for each meal and eat a set menu without worrying about what to eat. I decided to have a staff meal at the store for lunch and a quick meal at work for dinner, but to eliminate late-night snacks. The only time I could eat of my own accord was breakfast. I wanted it to be a healthy breakfast.

Days gone by when I was irresponsible about my health

I have always been interested in health, but I didn’t really know anything about it. I know that eating is important, but most of it was cardboard and just superficial knowledge that I gained through communications. When I wanted to eat healthy, I didn’t know what to eat and I also doubted if I could trust the health information that was circulating on the internet, such as blogs. I wondered if I should take supplements, which supplements I should take, and if it was okay to take them just because they said they were good for me when I didn’t know why I should take them. It seemed so irresponsible to trust my health to information that had not been verified.

There is a dietary method called “MIND diet”. The MIND diet is a diet that combines the benefits of the DASH diet, developed to prevent and manage hypertension, and the Mediterranean diet, known as a healthy diet. It is also a dietary method known today by the keyword “slow aging”.

It’s a meal that focuses on “what not to eat” rather than “what to eat more of.”

I think I’ve gotten over the obsession that I need to eat something for my health. You eat by limiting foods that many people know are bad for you, like red meat, processed meat, snacks, fried foods, and fast food. When you think about it, you might think, “I ate salad during the day, so chicken and beer for dinner is fine, right?” I remember more than once trying to justify my poor diet. It was necessary to reduce not only the frequency of meals, but also the amount of food. But is that easier said than done? I guess we all have that same feeling of wanting to diet but not exercise.

Wouldn’t it make a difference if we knew it properly?

Cosmetic knowledge does not provide sufficient motivation to think or act. So, I decided that I had to learn more. What kind of meal do we need, why, how and for whom is it healthy? I will study it step by step and try to put it into practice. To find food that does not worry your health.
