Formula 1 Extends Montreal Grand Prix Through 2035

Formula 1 ⁣and the Canadian Grand Prix will remain in ⁤Montreal through 2035. An agreement announced Tuesday extends the existing contract, ⁤initially set to expire in 2031, ‍by⁢ four years. The deal involves Formula 1, Octane Racing Group, and the Canadian and Quebec governments.

Last ​weekend’s race marked the ⁤54th Canadian Grand Prix ‌at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve,‌ the longest-standing Formula ⁤1 race outside of Europe. The circuit has ‍hosted the event⁢ since 1978.

In addition ⁤to the race ‍extension, Formula 1 announced ‌a long-term extension of its media rights agreement with Bell Media​ in Canada, ensuring continued coverage for Canadian fans.

⁣ ⁣ “As Formula 1 celebrates its ‌75th anniversary, it ‌is indeed fitting ‍that we have announced an extension with the⁢ Canadian Grand Prix…Montréal is an amazing city, full ‌of energy and passionate fans,” said Stefano Domenicali, ⁤Formula 1 CEO.

Domenicali also thanked Octane Racing Group and political stakeholders‍ for their efforts in upgrading the ‌venue and supporting the event. He expressed his excitement for⁣ future races in⁣ Montreal.
