GENEVA, SWITZERLAND — Canada’s Kadriana and Colton Lott are feeling an immense amount of pride on Thursday night. Proud of each other. The husband-and-wife curling duo secured a direct spot into the semifinals of the 2026 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship after finishing the preliminary round with a pair of wins on Thursday, according to The Canadian Press.
The Lotts, representing Gimli, Manitoba, first defeated Czechia 6-5 in an extra end before earning a more comfortable 10-5 victory over Switzerland in the evening draw. These wins cemented their position atop Group B with an 8-1 record.
Canadian Duo’s Journey to the Semifinals
This marks another significant milestone for the decorated Canadian pair. Since 2019, Kadriana and Colton Lott have consistently demonstrated their prowess in mixed doubles curling, securing two gold, two silver, and one bronze medal at the Canadian mixed doubles championships. Their current pursuit in Geneva aims to capture Canada’s first-ever title at the world mixed doubles event.

“Couldn’t be more proud. I think it makes it better that we’re teammates, we’re a couple, we’re partners,” Kadriana Lott said, as reported by The Canadian Press. “It’s great to do what we do and to travel and play on this surface together. It’s a huge feeling.”
The couple previously competed at the 2024 world championship, achieving an 8-1 record but ultimately falling short of a medal. This experience, however, has prepared them for the challenges ahead. “We’ve both been there before, so we know what to expect,” Kadriana Lott stated. “Each game of ours is always a tough battle. So, we’re ready to do that throughout the week and hopefully we’ll finish it off with a strong ending.”
Looking Ahead to the Semifinals
With a direct entry into the semifinals, the Lotts will bypass the qualifying round. The top teams from each group advance directly to Friday’s semifinals, while the second- and third-place teams will compete for the final semifinal spot. Canada’s strong performance throughout the preliminary round positions them favorably as they continue their quest for gold.
Colton Lott expressed their determination, stating, “Obviously, Canada hasn’t won gold in this discipline and that’s what we’re setting out to do. We couldn’t be more hungry and driven to do so,” according to a media call on Tuesday, as reported by CBC Sports.
Prior to the world championship, the Canadian duo warmed up by winning a Super Series mixed doubles event in Ontario, demonstrating their readiness for the international competition.
