⁢ Updated June 12, 2025

Seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton has refuted reports suggesting Ferrari is considering ⁤replacing team ⁢principal Fred Vasseur. Hamilton labeled the rumors, which surfaced ‌in two Italian newspapers, as “nonsense.” Ferrari officials ⁢stated the reports where not worthy of a response.

Hamilton‍ emphasized the importance of stability within the ⁤team, particularly with new personnel. “Embedding new people, whether it’s a driver or engineers or people who run an organization, it takes time to adjust and the impact can be important,” Hamilton said, underscoring his support for Vasseur. He added⁤ that he⁣ is fully focused on achieving success with⁢ Ferrari ⁢and has no doubts about his ⁣commitment.

Vasseur took over as Ferrari team principal at the⁢ start of 2023,succeeding Mattia Binotto after a disappointing 2022 season‌ marked by reliability issues and developmental setbacks compared to red Bull. Last year,Ferrari narrowly missed winning the constructors’ title for the first time ⁤as 2008,finishing just 16 points behind McLaren. Expectations were high for a competitive season this year.

However, McLaren drivers Oscar piastri and Lando Norris have dominated, winning seven of the first nine races. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen secured victories in Japan and Imola. Hamilton, in his ⁣initial races⁣ with Ferrari, has generally lagged ⁢behind teammate Charles Leclerc. he currently trails Leclerc by 23 points in the drivers’ championship.

Hamilton acknowledged ⁣the challenges ⁤but remains optimistic. ”It’s been a whirlwind‍ of a year. Everything outside the race track is going amazing, and I am working as hard as I can to make⁣ sure that’s reflected in the results,” Hamilton said. He‍ noted the need for performance upgrades to the ‌car, highlighting the single‍ upgrade received in Bahrain and hopes‌ for future improvements.

Hamilton also pointed ⁤out that he is adapting to a car that Leclerc has‍ been instrumental ⁣in developing. “The car I am racing right now is ⁤not a car I have had input ⁣into developing and evolving over the past ⁢four years.‌ I⁤ am driving a car Charles has been part of developing. It has its‍ challenges but I am enjoying ‍that ‍challenge,” he said.

What’s next

Ferrari is expected to ‌continue focusing on car advancement and performance improvements to close the gap with McLaren and Red Bull, while Hamilton⁤ aims to ⁤further integrate with the team and contribute to their long-term success.the team’s role in Formula 1 is crucial, and maintaining⁣ stability in leadership is seen as key to achieving their Ferrari‌ team ⁣principal goals and improving ‌their driver standings.
