Ryan ‌Fox, of New Zealand, triumphed ‌over American Sam Burns in a dramatic playoff‍ at⁤ the Canadian open. The golfers battled through four extra holes at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley before Fox clinched the victory, marking his second ⁢PGA Tour title. The Canadian Open victory solidifies Fox’s‌ role⁢ as a top contender in professional⁢ golf.

Burns had earlier carded a stellar 8-under 62, including nine birdies, to seize the clubhouse ‌lead. However,Fox responded with a ⁣final-round 66,highlighted by a crucial ⁤birdie on the 18th,forcing ‍the playoff.The par-5 18th served as the sudden-death playoff hole.

The first playoff attempt⁣ saw Fox narrowly miss a ⁣birdie, settling⁣ for par. Burns then⁣ missed a ‌makeable putt, extending the contest.⁤ On ⁣the ‌second attempt, Fox’s second shot flirted with the ⁣water, but both ⁢players again made par. After a third tied hole, Fox delivered⁢ a brilliant second shot‍ on the fourth attempt, setting up a birdie after burns ⁤took five⁢ strokes.

The Canadian Open victory follows Fox’s⁣ win at last month’s Myrtle Beach Classic, ⁤further ‍solidifying his position on the PGA Tour.

David Skinns, of England, finished at 13-under after shooting a final round 67 at TPC Toronto. Shane Lowry, of Ireland, briefly held the lead at 15-under⁣ after a strong start that included an eagle adn three birdies, but faded‍ with bogeys on the ninth, 16th, and 17th ‍holes.

‍ ‍ ‍ “It was very hard-fought,” ⁣Fox‌ said. “I was pretty lucky to make ‍that putt in regulation [at the 18th]. It just snuck in.”

⁢ “Nice to hit‍ a good ⁤one that fourth‍ time ⁢- that’s probably the best⁢ shot I’ve ever hit in my ‌life. Nice to do it in ‍these circumstances,” ⁤fox added.

What’s next

Fox’s recent success‌ positions him as a ⁤player to ‍watch in upcoming PGA Tour events. He will look ‌to continue his momentum⁣ and ⁣compete for more titles.
