The New York Rangers face challenges with five straight losses, scoring only 10 goals combined. Their average of 3.23 goals per game is now below their season mark. They cling to a wild-card position in the standings.
The Montreal Canadiens show improvement after a recent setback against the Vegas Golden Knights. They have earned three points in two games, allowing five goals in those matches. The young defense, despite missing Mike Matheson, has performed well.
Today’s game is an opportunity for Montreal to avenge a previous heavy loss to the Rangers. They look to continue their positive momentum ahead of a back-to-back game schedule. This season, they have gained nine of 12 points in three back-to-back sequences.
Patrik Laine may debut today or on Tuesday at home. The team hopes to build momentum for this anticipated event.
