Canal+ and Netflix Expand Streaming Access in Africa

Netflix and Canal+ have forged a strategic agreement to broaden streaming access across 24 French-speaking African countries. This partnership allows Canal+ to distribute Netflix through its pay TV subscription services, marking a first for the region.
The deal integrates netflix’s global hits,such as “Stranger Things” and “Squid Game,” with popular African series like “Blood & Water” and “kings of Joburg,” offering subscribers a diverse content library. This collaboration aims to enhance the entertainment experience for millions of viewers.
Pascale Chabert,chief content acquisition officer of Canal+,said she is delighted to extend their historic partnership with Netflix to Africa. She added that millions of African subscribers will benefit from a unique offer, bringing together the best of Canal+ and Netflix content in a joint package.
Emma Lloyd, vice president of partnerships, EMEA at Netflix, said they are thrilled about this extension of their partnership with Canal+, which will allow them to reach even more people across French-speaking african countries. She added that it’s a big win for entertainment fans and part of their ongoing mission to make the member experience even better.
Canal+ is solidifying its position in the African market, expanding from West Africa into eastern and southern regions, partly through its acquisition of Multichoice.
