Peru’s National Elections Jury (JNE) is reviewing over 8,000 candidate applications for the April 12, 2026, general elections. The JNE has found omissions and inaccurate data, leading to the disqualification of some candidates.
The entire Senate candidate list for the Salvemos al Perú party was disqualified, including former minister Mariano González and ex-Prime Minister Yehude Simon.
Disqualifications
In early January, the Lima Centro 2 special Electoral jury (JEE) rejected Salvemos al Perú’s Senate candidate list.
Resolution No.58-2026-JEE-LIC2/JNE stated the party submitted an incomplete list,failing to name a replacement candidate for the third position within the required timeframe. That spot had been assigned to former minister Mariano González.
