Peru’s National Elections Jury (JNE) is reviewing over 8,000 candidate applications for the ‍April 12, 2026, general elections. The JNE has found⁣ omissions and inaccurate data, leading to the disqualification of some candidates.

The entire ⁢Senate candidate list for⁢ the ‍Salvemos al Perú party was disqualified, including former minister Mariano González and ex-Prime Minister Yehude Simon.

Disqualifications

In early ⁣January, the Lima⁢ Centro 2 special Electoral jury ⁢(JEE) rejected Salvemos al Perú’s Senate candidate list.

Resolution No.58-2026-JEE-LIC2/JNE stated the party submitted an incomplete list,failing to⁣ name a replacement candidate for the third position within the required timeframe. That spot had been assigned to former minister⁣ Mariano‍ González.
