Jason Thornburg, 44, received a ⁣death sentence in Tarrant County, Texas, ‍after a jury found him guilty⁢ of capital
‍⁣ murder ⁤in ⁤the⁤ deaths of three individuals. The sentence ‍was handed down ‌after‍ a trial⁢ that revealed disturbing
details of the crimes.

Thornburg was ⁣convicted of the murders of david Lueras,42,Maricruz Mathis,33,and Lauren Phillips,34. The
⁢ murders occurred over⁤ a seven-day period in September 2021 at the Mid‌ City Inn in Euless, Texas. Prosecutors
⁣ argued, and ⁢the jury‍ agreed, that Thornburg lured each victim ‌to his motel room⁣ before killing them.

Evidence presented at trial showed Thornburg slit the throats of two victims‍ and strangled Phillips. He then
dismembered the bodies in​ the motel bathtub,storing the remains‌ in plastic bags. Authorities said Thornburg
⁤ ‍ ⁢ ⁤ dumped the remains in a skip in Fort Worth before setting them on fire.

investigators identified⁢ Thornburg ​as a suspect after reviewing CCTV footage that showed his Jeep ‌Grand Cherokee
​ ​ near the location‍ where the bodies were dumped. Further investigation revealed that Thornburg had meticulously
⁣ cleaned the plastic containers used to transport the ‌body parts and returned ⁢them to the store where he bought
⁤ ⁤ ⁤them.

During the trial, ‌Thornburg claimed the murders‍ were religiously motivated sacrifices. However, the jury
