SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic – The Dominican Winter League is off to a thrilling start, wiht the Estrellas Orientales and Gigantes del cibao making early statements in the round robin.
The Estrellas continued their dominant run, defeating the tigres del Licey 6-4 on Friday night. veteran infielder Robinson Canó, channeling the spirit of Dominican legend Miguel Tejada, led the Estrellas’ offensive charge, going 4-for-5 with three RBIs and a run scored.”We came out swinging early and put pressure on their pitcher,” Canó said after the game. “It’s importent to get those early runs and set the tone.”
