In June this year, Canon announced the launch of the RF-S3.9mm F3.5 STM dual fisheye lens, designed to enable its camera series to capture space videos and photos, priced at US$1,099.

Now, the company is expanding its line of dual-lens optics with a more affordable VR lens system, the RF-S 7.8mm F4 STM DUAL lens, which will be available this November for $449.99.

As the name suggests, the lens has a focal length of 7.8mm and a viewing angle of 60 degrees. Like the previously released dual fisheye lenses, the new lens is also compatible with Canon’s latest cameras that support the RF mount, including the EOS R, R5, R6, RP and R7.

This lens was previewed at Apple WWDC 2024, and Canon intends to use the new lens to meet the growing demand for video creation in accessible spaces.

It’s worth noting that the RF-S7.8mm F4 STM DUAL lens is said to operate similarly to traditional 2D RF lenses, making it easy to set up for novices and anyone with the latest RF mount cameras to set up for the Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest. 3rd class headsets create immersive content.
