Canucks’ Garland Reveals Jaws-Inspired Name for Son – A Heartwarming Birth Story
Conor Garland Welcomes Son and Names Him After ‘Jaws’ Character
Conor Garland, a player for the Vancouver Canucks, recently celebrated the birth of his son, Quint. The joyful news came alongside interesting details about the baby’s godfather and a humorous childhood memory.
Garland announced that his teammate, Quinn Hughes, will be Quint’s godfather. Garland shared a memorable experience from his childhood. He recalled getting in trouble at school for quoting a famous line from the movie Jaws at a young age: “Smile you son of a b—-.” This line is linked to the character Chief Brody as he battles the shark.
Garland grew up near the water and enjoyed watching Jaws frequently during his childhood. He expressed his hope to share the movie with his son, highlighting its significance in his early years.
Quint was born after a long labor, while Garland still participated in a game for the Canucks the night before. He played despite the emotional turmoil, as his wife Meghan was in labor. Garland noted he was concerned for her throughout the game, receiving updates via text.
After the game, he returned to the hospital to be with Meghan and the baby. Garland praised his wife for her strength during the birth, saying, “She was amazing.” He also commented that their son resembles her.
In addition to welcoming Quint, Garland dealt with concerns for teammate J.T. Miller, who is on leave. He felt motivated to support his team during this challenging time.
Looking ahead, Garland plans to stay in touch with his family while on the Canucks’ long road trip. He expressed excitement about being a father and the new experiences ahead.
