CaoCao and Shanghai Transport Operator Partner for Urban Mobility

CaoCao Inc. and Dazhong Transportation have announced a partnership to deploy robotaxis in Shanghai, combining CaoCao’s automated-driving and fleet-management technology with Dazhong’s urban mobility operations. According to Gasgoo, the collaboration aims to integrate autonomous vehicle capabilities into the city’s existing transport infrastructure.

Integration of Autonomous Driving and Fleet Management

The partnership leverages the specific technical strengths of both entities to scale autonomous ride-hailing in one of China’s largest metropolitan areas. CaoCao Inc. provides the automated-driving systems and the backend fleet-management software required to coordinate a fleet of self-driving cars, according to Gasgoo.

Dazhong Transportation, a major transport operator in Shanghai, contributes its operational experience and existing urban mobility network. This allows the robotaxi service to utilize established transport corridors and passenger demand patterns already managed by the operator, Gasgoo reports.

Operational Goals in Shanghai

The primary objective of the venture is to merge high-level automation with professional transport services. By pairing CaoCao’s software with Dazhong’s local market presence, the companies intend to streamline the deployment of autonomous vehicles within the complex traffic environment of Shanghai, according to Gasgoo.

The collaboration focuses on the transition from human-driven fleets to autonomous systems by using Dazhong’s experience in urban mobility to guide the deployment of CaoCao’s automated technology.
