cape Town residents are advised ⁣of upcoming water supply disruptions in⁣ several areas due to essential maintenance and infrastructure work.‍ The City ‍of Cape Town has announced planned shutdowns that will effect various suburbs, with some experiencing prolonged periods of ⁢reduced water pressure.

Planned ⁣Water Shutdowns

Saxonsea, Avondale, and Robinvale

The entire Saxonsea, Avondale, and Robinvale areas will be without water on Tuesday, 15 July, from ⁢ 08:00 to 17:00.This‍ shutdown is necessary for essential maintenance⁣ work on the water supply infrastructure.

Kirstenbosch

A City-appointed contractor will conduct a test shut-off of⁤ the‍ water main in Bishopscourt on tuesday, 15 July, between 10:00 and ‍14:00. This is⁤ a preparatory step ⁤for⁢ a more extensive shutdown scheduled for Wednesday, 16 July, from 09:00 to 16:00. The latter is required to facilitate the installation of a new connection to the‍ existing ‍water supply system. Residents in Kirstenbosch Drive, st Albans Close, Riverside ⁢Road, and ‍surrounding areas should anticipate⁢ water interruptions during both these periods.

Glen Garry ⁤Reservoir Shutdown

The ⁣Glen Garry Reservoir will undergo⁢ its annual cleaning and maintenance from Monday, 14 ‍July, untill Friday, 15 August 2025.This critical process is undertaken to ensure the continued quality and safety of the ⁤city’s water supply.

During⁣ this extended period, the Glen Garry area will receive an alternate ‍water supply. However, residents may experience lower water pressure then usual. The ⁣Wemmershoek Water Treatment Plant will supply⁢ the Wemmershoek pipeline, and the Blackheath Water treatment⁣ Plant will supply the link pipeline. The⁣ combined output from these treatment plants will then supply the Tygerberg Reservoir.

The City of Cape Town urges residents to store water in advance to mitigate the ⁤inconvenience caused by these planned disruptions.
