Tokyo-based Dai-ichi Life Holdings, a major Japanese life insurance company founded in 1902, has entered into a multi-year agreement with Capgemini to create a Global Capability Center (GCC) in India. The partnership aims to accelerate Dai-ichi Life’s digital transformation, leveraging India’s talent pool to bolster its IT and digital strategies with advanced software development.
The new GCC will concentrate on AI and data solutions, infrastructure modernization, and cybersecurity, initially supporting Dai-ichi Life operations in Japan, the United States, and Australia. Plans include further expansion. The collaboration follows a Build-Operate-Transfer model, enabling Dai-ichi Life to gradually internalize key digital functions and enhance its in-house capabilities in artificial intelligence, data management, and cybersecurity.
Capgemini will provide its global expertise to co-innovate solutions designed to streamline operations and improve customer service. While the specific location of the global capability Center in India has not been disclosed,it is expected to be in a major tech hub such as Bengaluru,Pune,or Hyderabad,where Capgemini has a strong presence.
Tetsuya Kikuta, CEO of Dai-ichi Life, emphasized that this collaboration will strengthen in-house capabilities in AI, data, and cybersecurity, setting the foundation for long-term innovation.
What’s next
dai-ichi Life will continue to expand its international presence, building on existing subsidiaries like Protective Life Corporation in the U.S., Dai-ichi Life Vietnam, and Dai-ichi Life Cambodia. The company also maintains a presence in India through Star Union Dai-ichi Life Insurance (SUD Life),a joint venture with Bank of India and Union Bank of India,further solidifying its global reach in insurance,asset management,and financial services.
