Caraga Region⁤ to Showcase Diverse Tourism Offerings at ASEAN Tourism Forum 2026

The Department of Tourism-Caraga (DOT Caraga) will promote destinations ⁢beyond Siargao ‌Island’s surfing ⁢scene at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations⁤ (ASEAN) Tourism Forum ​(ATF) 2026, held in Mactan, Cebu, from January 28 to 30. ⁣While⁤ siargao remains Caraga’s ⁣most well-known attraction, DOT Caraga​ aims to highlight the region’s‌ broader tourism potential.

The ATF is an​ annual event designed to promote ASEAN⁤ as a unified tourism destination. ⁤The 2026 forum,​ hosted by the Philippines, marks the 45th ⁢anniversary of the ⁤event, which began in malaysia‍ in 1981.

DOT Caraga Regional Director Ivonnie Dumadag ⁣stated the region’s‍ participation reflects its new​ branding, “Caraga Beyond Its Waves.” This⁣ branding initiative focuses on showcasing destinations‌ and experiences beyond surfing.
