Carla Harvey, formerly of Butcher Babies, has launched a new single and video, “Hell or Hollywood,” under her project The Violent Hour. The track features a guitar solo by Zakk Wylde, known for his work with Ozzy Osbourne and Black Label Society.
Following the release of “sick Ones” with John 5,”Hell or Hollywood” showcases an ’80s hard rock influence. The music video, filmed at the iconic Rainbow Bar & Grill in Hollywood, includes actors portraying rock legends such as Lemmy Kilmister, Janis Joplin, and Kurt Cobain.
Harvey reflected on the video shoot: “Shooting at the Rainbow was a full-circle moment.Growing up, I saw the Rainbow in rock magazines and Guns N’ Roses videos. It represented the rock ’n’ roll lifestyle I craved. When I moved to LA, I practically lived there, making friends and finding bandmates. The Rainbow is a living piece of rock history.”
“This video tells the story of chasing a dream to LA and toys with the question: do you have to sell your soul for rock ’n’ roll? Is this Hell or Hollywood?”

Harvey explained that the video explores the allure and potential pitfalls of pursuing dreams in Los Angeles. Luke Edwards plays Lemmy, Shannon Corbett portrays Janis Joplin, and Gabe Maska appears as Kurt Cobain.
Charlie Benante, Harvey’s fiancé and drummer for Anthrax and Pantera, composed the music and played most instruments on The violent Hour’s upcoming EP. He noted the song’s Guns N’ Roses and Aerosmith influences. Benante also praised Wylde’s contribution, saying his solo brings a “raw, six-string grit” to the track.
“The riff on ‘Hell or Hollywood’ is the kind that stands on it’s own — even without vocals, it’s got a swagger to it. And having Zakk Wylde on the solo? He brought this raw, six-string grit that rips through the track.”

Benante and Wylde are currently touring with Pantera, alongside Philip Anselmo and Rex Brown. Harvey is touring with Lords of Acid.
