Carlito Wins WWC Puerto Rico Championship before WWE Exit
Updated June 03, 2025
Carlito, a Judgment Day member soon departing WWE, has clinched the WWC puerto Rico Heavyweight Championship. This marks his second time holding the title. He defeated Ray Gonzalez at WWC Summer Madness 2025 in Puerto Rico to secure the championship, a title he first won 11 years ago.
The match marked Carlito’s first appearance in WWC, owned by his father Carlos Colon, as 2023. WWE Raw General Manager Adam Pearce granted Carlito permission to participate in the Puerto Rican event.
Carlito recently revealed that WWE would not be renewing his contract. He, along with R-Truth, are expected to leave the promotion as their contracts expire. Carlito’s presence in Judgment Day segments had been consistent until recently.
Reports indicate that WWE’s decision not to renew Carlito’s contract stems from the recent signing of new talent and budget constraints.
His last WWE television appearance was at the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal on “WWE SmackDown,” with his final “Raw” match occurring last november. Carlito had previously expressed a desire to conclude his wrestling career with WWE, even suggesting a match against Dominik Mysterio. However, his departure makes this unlikely.
What’s next
As Carlito prepares to depart WWE, his future in professional wrestling remains uncertain, though further appearances in WWC seem plausible.
