Carlito, the WWE Superstar known for his apple-spitting persona, is reportedly leaving WWE as his contract will not be renewed. The 46-year-old veteran’s departure coincides with a significant victory in Puerto Rico.
Just last night, Carlito competed for the World Wrestling Council (WWC) in puerto Rico, where he defeated Ray Gonzalez to win the WWC Puerto Rican Championship. This victory adds another layer to his wrestling future as news of his WWE departure circulates.
A member of the Colon wrestling family and son of WWE Hall of Famer Carlos Colon, Carlito initially signed with WWE in 2003. He quickly gained fame, capturing the WWE Intercontinental Championship and the United States Championship. He also held tag team gold with his brother, Primo Colon, before his release in 2010.
After his initial WWE run, Carlito remained active on the independant circuit and in Puerto Rico. He made a surprise return in the 2021 Men’s Royal Rumble match, which led to a more permanent deal.
