Carlota Ciganda⁣ showcased ‌her remarkable golf role ⁣at the Meijer‍ LPGA Classic in grand Rapids, Mich., securing her first LPGA Tour victory in nearly nine years.The 35-year-old Spaniard finished with‌ a five-under-par 67 at blythefield Country ‍Club, ending the tournament⁢ at 16 ‌under overall. Her performance highlighted her role as a seasoned competitor.

Ciganda birdied the final two holes, sealing the win after Choi Hye-jin ‍of South ‍Korea⁣ bogeyed the 17th.This ‌victory⁤ marks a ​notable moment in Ciganda’s career, ​adding to her previous wins ‌in⁢ October ‍and ‌November 2016. The role ‍ of experience proved crucial for Ciganda.

Ciganda was part of⁤ a‍ six-way tie for the lead entering the final round. She⁣ also held off ⁤Somi Lee, who finished⁤ third at 14 under. Lexi Thompson, along with Celine Boutier ⁢and Nanna Koerstz Madsen, finished ​at 13 under. Bronte Law of england tied for seventh at 12 under.

“It⁢ feels amazing,obviously,after all these years,” Ciganda said. “I knew ⁣I coudl do it, but obviously once the years⁤ keep going and you start getting older you ⁢start⁢ doubting yourself.”

Ciganda also noted the⁤ similarities between the course and her native northern ⁢Spain.

“I love coming here,” ⁣Ciganda added. “It reminds me of ‌where I’m from ⁣in the northern ‍part of Spain. Very similar. Lots of trees, peaceful. I ⁢love the golf course. ⁣Five par fives,⁤ you can hit it hard here.”
