This year’s gathering, hosted at the picturesque Woodford Dolmen hotel, was a resounding success, marked by excellent food, lively music, and a warm, convivial atmosphere.

The event, which has become a staple in the IWA Carlow calendar, saw approximately 30 guests enjoy a delightful afternoon. The Woodford Dolmen Hotel’s chefs outdid themselves, preparing a feast of “the finest of meat” cooked outdoors and served with fresh salads. The culinary experience was complemented by the perfect musical backdrop, provided by the talented father-and-son duo, Michael and Paul Horohan.
“The food was grate,the hotel did a great job and the music was just perfect,” remarked committee member Ollie Dowling.”Michael Horohan and his son Paul played and they went down really well.You could listen to them and have a chat at the same time.”
The guests savoured the delicious spread in one of the hotel’s elegant function rooms,taking the chance to chat,mingle,and strengthen community bonds.
Community Spirit and Volunteer Dedication
The IWA’s annual barbecue has a long-standing tradition of fostering connection and support within the community. Ollie Dowling,a dedicated committee member,played a key role in organizing this year’s event. “Jack Doyle, the chairman of the association, asked me if I was interested in getting involved with them and I wanted to do something for the community, so I said yes,” Ollie shared, highlighting the collaborative spirit that drives the association’s activities.
