A shooting at Fairgreen Shopping center in Carlow town, County Carlow, Ireland, resulted in the death of one man Sunday. Gardai,the Irish police force,responded to reports of a firearm discharge at the shopping center shortly after 6:15 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered the body of a white Irish male. Authorities believe the man’s wounds were self-inflicted. The army explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) team has been requested to examine the scene.
The County Carlow shopping center and its car park have been cordoned off, and the area will remain closed overnight as the investigation continues.While emergency services remain on site, gardai have assured the public that there is no further threat to safety. Ireland’s Justice Minister jim O’Callaghan called the event a ”really shocking incident.”

Simon Harris, Ireland’s deputy leader, expressed his concern, particularly for the injured child and witnesses.”I understand a young child has been hurt and I join with people across our country in thinking of them and their family tonight,” Harris stated. ”I am also thinking of all those who witnessed this situation and the awful shock and upset it must have caused them.”
