Carlton Football Club players Lachie Cowan and Will Hayward received medical treatment at a hospital on October 11 following an off-season night out. The club confirmed both players were admitted and subsequently discharged for what it described as “separate circumstances,”, The Guardian reported.

Hospitalization of Cowan and Hayward

Ambulance Victoria paramedics responded to an incident in the inner-suburban area of South Yarra at approximately 5:15 a.m. on October 11. According to the service, a man in his 20s was transported to The Alfred hospital in stable condition. The Carlton Football Club later confirmed that 21-year-old Lachie Cowan was among those who required medical attention.

The club stated that Cowan underwent observation after receiving medical treatment. He was discharged from the hospital shortly thereafter. A second player, 27-year-old Will Hayward, was also admitted to a hospital later on the morning of October 11.

Will Hayward experienced a minor cut to the head after a fall, and admitted himself to hospital where he received stitches before being discharged.

The players were part of a larger group that had been socialising on the evening of October 10. Carlton officials confirmed they have maintained regular contact with both men throughout the recovery process.

The club has been in regular contact with both players, with priority for their wellbeing and both players have now received the necessary care relating to their separate circumstances.
