Carmel Feeney – Funeral Details & Family Notice | Ballycastle, Mayo

Carmel McDonnell, Beloved Mayo Woman, Passes Away Peacefully at Home

Ballycastle, Mayo – Carmel McDonnell (née Barrett), a cherished member of the Ballycastle community, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, March 5th, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was formerly of Ballybeg, Kilfian.

Carmel’s passing marks a significant loss for her family and friends. She is predeceased by her husband, Martin, her parents, her sister Angela, and her brother Paddy.

She is survived by her sons, Patrick and Kevin; her daughters, Joan, Evelyn, Rosaleen, and Sinead; daughters-in-law Monica and Samantha; sons-in-law Mairtín, Tommy, Martin, and Colin; eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is also remembered fondly by her sisters, Ann, Breda, Mary and Evelyn; brothers Noel and John, as well as a wide circle of relatives, nieces, nephews, neighbours and friends.

The family has requested that those wishing to pay their respects do so at Lynn’s Funeral Home, Killala, on Saturday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Sunday at 11:30 AM in St. Bridgid’s Church, Ballycastle, followed by burial in Ballycastle cemetery. The family has requested that their home be kept private at this time.

For those unable to attend in person, the Funeral Mass will be livestreamed on the Ballycastle Facebook page, allowing friends and family to participate remotely.

Messages of sympathy and condolences are welcomed and can be left online. The family appreciates the outpouring of support during this difficult time.

Carmel McDonnell will be remembered for her kindness and gentle spirit, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her. Her memory will be cherished by her family and the Ballycastle community.
