A Life Shaped in Ohio and Uniform
Born on July 4, 1942, in Findlay Township, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Carlos Edmund Palmer and Ida Mathilda Johnson. Park grew up in Ohio, where she completed her high school education before enlisting in the United States Navy.
Her military service led her to Annapolis, Maryland. There, she met her future husband, Donald Stewart. The couple moved to West Virginia in 1968, planting permanent roots in the local community.
Three Decades at West Virginia University
Park established a lasting career on the Morgantown campus. She spent more than thirty years working as a campus cashier, stepping down with her retirement in 2007. Across decades of service, she earned a campus-wide reputation defined by a warm smile and a kind heart.
Beyond her professional life, she found grounding in her faith. She was a member of the Riverside Methodist Church, which provided strength and guidance throughout her life.
A Family Legacy Across Four States
She is survived by her children: daughter Dawn R. Kuhn and husband Kevin of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; son James Stewart and wife Michelle of Burton, West Virginia; son Jeffry Stewart and wife Kelli of Fairview, West Virginia; and son John “Chris” Foley and wife Sherry of Salisbury, North Carolina.
Park also leaves behind seven grandchildren—Joshua Kuhn, Ryan Stewart, Jami Carpenter, Jacob Tscherch, Kyndra Tucker, Kyndle Stewart, and Caelan Stinson—and four great-grandchildren: Mason, Ruby, Cooper, and Violet. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald Stewart, her sister RaChel Palmer, and her twin sister, Carolyn Cosentino.
Services Scheduled in Morgantown
Friends and family will gather to honor her memory on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Fred Jenkins Funeral Home, located at 10 S. High St. in Morgantown.
Visitation will resume on Saturday, from 11 a.m. until the funeral service begins at noon. Her pastor and friend, Jim Weber, will officiate. Interment will follow immediately at the Blacksville Cemetery.
