The arrival of the CARS Tour marks a new era for Cordele Motor Speedway, formerly known as Watermelon Capital Speedway. New owner Greg Nolan, who purchased the track in 2023, has been working tirelessly to restore the venue to its former glory.
“I just bought the track at the end of last year,” Nolan said. “We’ve entirely remodeled the track. It’s a lot nicer than it was prior and everyone says they love it.My son used to drive on [Cordele] all the time, so I wanted to keep [this place running], especially as it’s one of the last circle tracks in Georgia.”
General manager Ricky Brooks, who also heads up the UARA National Super Late Model races, shares Nolan’s enthusiasm.
“It’s been all positive,” Brooks said. “The race track and area needs some energy the CARS Tour can bring. The pits have grown pretty fast, but we’re still working on the grandstands a little bit. I think the CARS Tour will bring more people [to Cordele] and hopefully they’ll stay as customers throughout the year.”
Nolan is hopeful that the CARS Tour will become an annual fixture at cordele Motor Speedway.

“he said he’s excited to bring the tour to Cordele, and that fans there have been really excited about the race,” said Sarah, a local racing enthusiast. “it’s pretty cool he’s making this a part of his limited racing schedule.”

“It used to be called Watermelon Capital Speedway,” Sarah explained. “the new owner bought it last year and has been working hard to fix it up.Apparently, it’s looking pretty sweet now.”
