Spire Motorsports has penalized NASCAR Cup Series Rookie of the Year Carson Hocevar after he made disparaging comments about Mexico during a recent livestream. The incident occurred while the 22-year-old driver was iRacing and streaming on Twitch.
Hocevar’s remarks,which included referring to Mexico as a “s***hole,” drew immediate criticism. He quickly apologized, but Spire Motorsports launched an internal review.
Consequently of the review,Spire Motorsports fined Hocevar $50,000 and mandated that he complete cultural-sensitivity and bias-awareness training. The money will be split among three Mexican charities: Cruz Roja Mexicana (Mexican Red Cross), Un Kilo de Ayuda (a nonprofit combating childhood malnutrition), and Fondo Unido México (funding local NGOs that improve education, health, and housing).

In a statement, Spire Motorsports said the actions align with their core value of respect.
