, the mayor of Cartoceto, Matteo Andreoni, emphasized, making reference to the virus spread in tropical areas. Abbiamo preso atto di quanto disposto dall’Ast di Pesaro e Urbino per la disinfestazione
, he stated.
Cartoceto Disinfection Operations and Affected Streets
Because the exact gender of the infected resident remains undisclosed by health authorities, operational focus shifted entirely to the residential settlement traversed before reaching the historic center of Cartoceto. L’Ast di Pesaro Urbino ha comunicato la presenza di un caso di Dengue nel territorio comunale di Cartoceto di legge
, the municipality stated.
Disinfection treatments take place between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. across specific thoroughfares. The affected zone encompasses via Umberto I, via Solferino, the access point on via Mombaroccese, via Santa Maria del Soccorso, via San Nicola, via Nettuno, and via San Bernardino. The schedule also covers via Peschiera within the tract stretching between the war memorial and the Ragnetti school complex.

Public Health Directives and Precautions
The municipality scheduled the multi-night intervention under prescriptions supplied by the AST and in conformity with Ministry of Health guidelines featured in the national prevention plan extended through Dec. 31, 2026. Heavy rain will prompt the postponement of any scheduled treatment to the first available night with immediate public notification.
Prior to the treatments, the administration advised residents to harvest fruits and vegetables from local gardens, cover immobile plants and outdoor items with protective sheeting, and bring children’s toys, pet bowls, and outdoor equipment indoors. Citizens must also pull in hanging laundry, keep doors and windows shut during operations, and shelter domestic animals inside. Residents must wait 15 days before consuming any homegrown produce exposed to the disinfection products.
Precedent of the 2024 Fano Outbreak
The current case arrives against the backdrop of a major regional outbreak that unfolded between August and October 2024. Fano recorded 144 confirmed cases and approximately 70 probable infections without any fatalities, constituting the largest dengue outbreak registered in Italy that year. In 2023, the Qdenga vaccine was authorized in Italy for the prevention of the disease.
Medical literature establishes that dengue is a viral illness transmitted primarily through the bite of infected Aedes aegypti or tiger mosquitoes, rather than through direct human-to-human transmission, carrying a fatality rate of approximately one percent under proper medical care.
