Atlanta, GA – John Gibson, known professionally as rapper Cash Out, has ‍been handed a life sentence in prison ⁢following his⁢ conviction on charges including rape, RICO violations, and other ⁤offenses stemming from a sex trafficking operation. The sentencing took place Friday in Atlanta, concluding a trial that has captivated the city.

A Life Sentence and Decades More for “Cashin’ Out” Rapper

Cash Out,whose real name is John Gibson,was found guilty in his Atlanta trial. He received a⁣ life sentence for the⁢ rape charge and an additional 70 years for his convictions related to the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act and other⁤ charges.According to WSB-TV Atlanta,the sentences will be served ⁢concurrently.

The Atlanta emcee, who experienced moderate success in the early 2010s, is best known for his 2012 debut single, “Cashin’ out,” which topped the Billboard Rap airplay chart. He followed this success with another hit, “She Twerkin,” two years later, the same year he released his only album, “Let’s ⁣Get⁣ It.”

Family Members ‍Also Receive Significant Sentences

The legal repercussions extend beyond Cash Out himself. His mother, Linda Smith, was also ‍sentenced to 30 years on RICO charges. His cousin, Tyrone taylor, received a ⁤life sentence plus an additional 70 years, mirroring Cash Out’s sentence.

the Seven-Year “Reign of Terror” Uncovered

The ⁢trial, which commenced two months prior to the sentencing, focused on allegations that Cash Out,‍ his mother, and his ⁤cousin coerced and forced women into sex work over several years. ‍prosecutors presented evidence, including text messages from eight cellphones, to support claims⁢ that the trio exploited women for financial gain.

Charges where initially filed against Cash Out in June 2023. Prosecutors alleged that he used his celebrity status to facilitate his criminal activities, describing his actions as a “seven-year reign of terror.”‍ his⁣ legal team, though, contended that the victims were coerced into testifying against him.

Fulton County prosecutor Earnell Winfrey emphasized the severity of the crimes during the trial,stating,”This has been⁣ going on for seven years. This ⁢ain’t just straight pimping-this is trafficking.” The verdict and sentencing mark a significant⁣ conclusion to a case that has⁢ highlighted the dark side of exploitation within the entertainment industry.
