Arnas Garibaldi hospital is launching an information campaign to emphasize the importance of hand hygiene among healthcare workers. The initiative coincides with World Hand Hygiene Day, observed Monday, May 5.

The campaign includes the placement of illustrative posters in the Center and Nesima hospital locations. Additionally, a special educational event is planned for the pediatrics department at Nesima.

The Importance of Hand Hygiene
according to hospital officials, hand hygiene is a rapid and cost-effective method to substantially impact public health. Using hand sanitizer takes approximately 20 seconds, while washing with soap and water requires 40-60 seconds.Proper handwashing can reduce the risk of infections by more than 30% and possibly save millions of lives annually.
