Catherine West Urges Prime Minister to Set Departure Timetable

Catherine West, a Labour Member of Parliament, has called on Prime Minister Keir Starmer to establish a timetable for his departure from office.

According to reporting by The Guardian, West made the call after characterizing a speech given by the prime minister as too little, too late.

While West is urging the prime minister to set a timeline for his exit, she has stopped short of standing for the leadership herself.

West based her call for a transition on her interactions with the electorate, noting that voters she spoke to during the campaign felt the country does not work for them.

Identifying herself as a working-class woman from Yorkshire, West stated that the opportunities she has enjoyed would not have been available if not for the achievements of the Labour government.

She further asserted that the Labour Party is one of the best vehicles for changing the lives of working people that this county has ever known.
