The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has filed a formal police complaint with the Delhi police following a series of coordinated cyber attacks targeting its post-result portal. The action follows reports of systemic disruptions to services provided to students after the release of examination results.
The attacks specifically targeted the portal used for revaluation, answer sheet photocopies, and verification services. Students reported an inability to access these essential post-result functions, leading the board to seek assistance from the DM to address the failures.
According to reporting from The Economic Times, CBSE detected 3.8 million malicious packets targeting the revaluation portal. The board stated that the attack was thwarted.
The Times of India reported that the cyber attacks occurred repeatedly over a period of three days leading up to June 5, 2026. Despite the frequency and scale of the attempts, CBSE has denied that a data breach occurred during the incidents.
The Delhi police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) to investigate the coordinated nature of the cyber attacks. The investigation is focused on the source and intent of the malicious packets that targeted the board’s digital infrastructure.
