A recent propaganda video released by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) media, titled “If there is a war, I will return if called back,” has sparked outrage and sarcasm among Chinese veterans. The video, which encouraged veterans to return to the army and fight for the CCP at any time, was flooded with comments from netizens, with many saying “If there is a war, call Land Rover.”
The screenshot of the webpage shows that the video once had more than a thousand comments, most of which were “If there is a war, call Land Rover.” Some other comments were similar: “Come back to fight the big fight?”, “Please call the Tiger Pioneer first”, “I don’t have a Land Rover, so I won’t go”, “Go to Qingdao to see my comrades”, “How dare you post this video.”
The video was subsequently deleted.
The incident that sparked the outrage was the beating of a retired soldier in Qingdao by a female Land Rover driver. The driver had cut in line and refused to give way, and the local authorities protected her. This incident has aroused the anger of veterans across the country, with many questioning “Are we defending our homes or the privilege of being slapped in the face?”

Veterans from various provinces have also live-streamed removing the “Home of Glory” signs from their front doors, and some have even read anti-corruption poems during the live broadcast, “How dare you laugh at Huang Chao for being a coward.”
In addition, a large number of veterans have deliberately “violated discipline” and publicly discussed online the cruel truth of their participation in the massacre of civilians in Xinjiang and Tibet during their service.
