Kitchener, Ontario, will host the $2 million Call of Duty League Championship final on Sunday, featuring OpTic Texas and the Vancouver Surge. Both teams navigated a challenging path to reach the grand stage of the Call of duty League.
OpTic Texas dominated the winners-bracket final, securing a 3-0 sweep against the boston Breach. Meanwhile,the Vancouver Surge demonstrated resilience,battling through multiple elimination matches to earn their spot in the final. The top eight teams from the Call of Duty leagues regular season qualified for this double-elimination tournament, marking the culmination of the Black Ops 6 season.
Matches are best-of-five, except for Sunday’s grand final, which will be a best-of-nine showdown. The winning team will claim the $800,000 top prize in this Call of Duty League Championship.
OpTic Texas showcased their dominance by defeating Boston in three maps: 250-73 on Vault Hardpoint, 6-1 on protocol Search & destroy, and 3-2 on Hacienda Control.Mason “Mercules” Ramsay led optic Texas with 77 kills and a plus-34 kill-death differential. Brandon “Dashy” Otell contributed 61 kills with a plus-27 differential.
The vancouver Surge initiated their Saturday run with a 3-0 sweep against the Toronto Ultra, securing victories on Vault Hardpoint (250-235), Protocol Search & destroy (6-4), and Vault Control (3-0). Travis “Neptune” McCloud spearheaded the Surge’s effort with 75 kills and a plus-22 K-D differential.
The Miami Heretics also swept their elimination round 2 match,defeating the Atlanta FaZe 3-0 with wins on Skyline Hardpoint (250-233),Protocol Search & Destroy (6-3),and Protocol Control (3-0). David “RenKoR” Isern posted 64 kills and a plus-16 K-D differential, while Diego ”SupeR” Escudero added 54 kills and a plus-15.
Vancouver then faced the Heretics,clinching a 3-2 victory. The Surge won on Vault Hardpoint (250-242) and Protocol Control (3-1), but lost on Dealership Search & Destroy (6-3) and Hacienda Hardpoint (250-193) before winning on Red Card Search & Destroy (6-5).
In the elimination final, the Surge edged out the Breach 3-2. Vancouver secured wins on Red Card Hardpoint (250-235) and Vault control (3-0), while Boston took Rewind Search & Destroy (6-2) and Skyline Hardpoint (250-188). The Surge ultimately prevailed on Red Card Search & Destroy (6-2). McCloud led with 98 kills and a plus-12 K-D differential, while Eric ”Snoopy” Perez had 102 kills and a plus-14 for the Breach.
