For the fourth ‍consecutive year, Cedar Chest, a fixture in downtown Northampton’s⁤ Thornes Marketplace, is joining forces with Grow Food Northampton (GFN) to address food ⁣insecurity in the area. The initiative aims to boost the SNAP Match program, ensuring access to fresh, local food for all.

The “Give $10, Get $10” campaign allows Cedar Chest customers⁤ to donate $10 to GFN’s SNAP ⁣Match program. In return, donors receive⁣ a $10 gift card to Cedar‍ Chest. the SNAP Match program ⁣effectively doubles the buying power of SNAP recipients at‍ GFN’s farmers markets, including ⁣the Tuesday and winter markets. ⁤This ensures that individuals, regardless of income, can afford nutritious, ‍locally sourced produce and ⁣other farm products.

Recent data indicates a concerning rise in ‍hunger across Massachusetts. More than one in three households in Western Massachusetts struggle to secure enough food.
