The​ men’s volleyball team from Cégep de Sept-Îles has qualified for the provincial championship.The team will compete in Beauce ‍on April 5 and 6.

Head coach Jean-François Lachance’s team secured their spot by ​medaling at the Northeast Conference Championship in Drummondville.

The team started by defeating the⁢ host team, the winner of the Centre-du-Québec conference, with scores of 25-20 and 25-22.⁢ They then lost to garneau (25-20, 18-25, 12-15) before winning against Victoriaville (23-25, ⁣26-24, 15-9) to advance to the bronze final. In a rematch, Drummondville defeated them (25-17, 23-25, 14-16).

The guys came ‌out strongly by applying the match plan to perfection. Beating Drummondville in their gymnasium right away after the seasoning banner‌ gave energy⁣ for the⁣ day.

The ‍coach highlighted the performance‍ of Félix Beaulieu and Emmanuel Hounsell, who he said had an extraordinary ⁢tournament.

This is the first time in ‌15 ‌years that ‍the Cégep de Sept-Îles men’s team has qualified for the provincial championship.

We have something to⁢ be proud of our guys. They have accomplished something exceptional.We have been working with guys for three years, its all an achievement that this edition has just made. The guys did it for ‍them, for our CEGEP, but also for all the old and future travelers who believe that it was not possible‌ to surrender​ [au provincial] By ​being⁤ in Sept-Îles.

Badminton⁣ Duo Earns Bronze, Qualifies for Provincials

The badminton season will continue for‍ Alexis Joseph and‌ Emma Turbide, who won the bronze medal⁤ at the conference championship in Sherbrooke. Their finish qualifies them⁣ for the provincial CSRAQ championship​ in Drummondville from april 4-6.

The pair secured a playoff spot with two ​wins⁣ and one ‍loss in the group phase.

In the ‍semi-finals,‌ joseph and Turbide lost to the top-seeded duo⁢ from Shawinigan (8-21, 8-21).However, the Cégep de Sept-Îles team rebounded to⁤ win the bronze medal, defeating‍ representatives from Cégep ⁣de Sherbrooke (21-11, 21-16).

In men’s ‌singles, Olivier Dion, with a record of 3-0 in his pool, lost in the quarter-finals to a player from Cégep de sherbrooke.

Unfortunately, Olivier had difficulty managing stress and pressure. He delivered a match ‍below his abilities. He lost the match 16-21,12-21.

Dion​ won his two consolation matches to finish in fifth place. ⁢He could participate in the provincial ⁤championship if ‌there ​is an injury.

It was a Crève-Coeur tournament for ​Olivier who aspired to qualify⁣ for ⁤the provincial. Still, our mixed double ​team was able to ‍fight⁤ and cause surprise by⁤ going ⁤to seek third place.
