On August 28, in Preah Sihanouk city in the southwestern coastal region of Cambodia, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Preah Sihanouk province – the agency in charge of the consular areas of Preah Sihanouk, Kampot, Kep, Koh Kong, Kampong Speu and Takeo provinces – held a ceremony to celebrate the 79th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day.
Attending the event were representatives of the Vietnamese Embassy in the Kingdom of Cambodia, leaders of provincial authorities in the consular area, armed forces, businesses and the Vietnamese community in the area.

Speaking at the ceremony, Consul General Lai Xuan Chien recalled the historical event of President Ho Chi Minh reading the Declaration of Independence on September 2, 1945, as well as the process of the Vietnamese people’s efforts to fight, sacrifice and work to protect national independence. Up to now, with an independent, self-reliant, peaceful and friendly foreign policy, Vietnam continues to achieve many proud achievements in the field of foreign affairs. The country’s position in the region and in the international arena has been increasingly enhanced.
According to Mr. Lai Xuan Chien, regarding bilateral relations, recent high-level delegation exchanges between the two countries have reaffirmed that the relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia in the new development stage has always been preserved, increasingly consolidated, enhanced and strongly developed.

On behalf of the local government, armed forces and people, Governor of Preah Sihanouk province, Mang Sineth congratulated the Party, State and people of Vietnam on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of National Day, September 2.
Mr. Mang Sineth highly appreciated the comprehensive development achievements of the Vietnamese people, affirming that the relationship between the two countries has been constantly consolidated and enhanced. In the current period, with the motto of “good neighbors, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term sustainability”, Preah Sihanouk province continues to cooperate closely with Kien Giang province, Bac Lieu province and Hai Phong city.
According to Mr. Mang Sineth, maintaining the cooperation framework of the Cambodia – Laos – Vietnam Development Triangle Area (CLV – DTA) will bring economic and national security benefits; facilitate people’s access to necessary services in life. Notable services are education, human resource training and healthcare; coordinate the control of natural disasters, floods and forest fires on the border; promote the integration of the border provinces of the three countries, building this place into a border area of friendship, solidarity and development for the benefit of the people of Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam.
Previously, on August 27, in the capital Phnom Penh, within the framework of activities to celebrate major national holidays, the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia coordinated with overseas Vietnamese businesses to organize gift giving for poor patients at the dialysis department of MED115 hospital.
Here, nearly 30 Khmer patients and some Vietnamese people in difficult circumstances were given gifts worth a total of about 50 million VND by Embassy staff and doctors.

Mr. Lai Xuan Chien said that for many years, on major holidays such as Lunar New Year, National Day September 2… the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia, in collaboration with businesses, the Khmer – Vietnam Association and domestic organizations and philanthropists, regularly organizes activities to help, provide medical examination and treatment, distribute medicine and give gifts to Cambodian families and people of Vietnamese origin in difficult circumstances. The activities aim to strengthen the friendly relations and solidarity between the two peoples of Vietnam and Cambodia, while demonstrating the spirit of mutual love and responsibility of the Vietnamese community towards the society where they live.
